Transitioning Scotland’s food and drink sectors to a circular economy
Zero Waste Scotland appointed Enscape Consulting to carry out research (2025-26) on what organisations are doing to reduce their food and drink waste and transitioning to a circular economy.
This research entailed engaging with organisations working in:
- Hospitality e.g. hotels, restaurants and other eating places
- Food and drink manufacturing
- Retail and wholesale
The research gathered insights and evidence to provide Zero Waste Scotland with a greater understanding of food and drink businesses’ support requirements and expectations, the barriers they face to adopting food waste reduction practices, their attitudes towards the circular economy, and available and appropriate avenues for potential support solutions in the future.
